MESSENGER (UK) is a musical troupe from London formed in the spring of 2012 by Khaled Lowe and Barnaby Maddick. They booked a session with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano at Orgone Studios that gave birth to their debut album, Illusory Blues: a cosmic ode to the forces of nature and the inevitable cycle of life. To cite musical influences would be futile. The musicians had made their names with bands in scenes as far apart as hardcore punk, black metal, and ambient music. Tonally, one might recall finding oneself in the same "space" occupied by other architects of sound such as Ulver, The Beatles, Swans, or Pink Floyd. But the stream of sound that emanates from the source of Illusory Blues is a heaving mass of organic richness, brimmed with intricate sounds that acknowledge the original fathers of experimentation but look forward in creating something new and unique. They dwell equally in the earthly realm of folk music and in the celestial void of progressive psychedelia, but have chanced upon a sound and an experience that sounds like no other. Rounded off by Daniel Knight and James Leach, the lineup of MESSENGER is now complete, but the journey has just begun.

Я успел послушать более шесть сотен свежих записей в прошлом году, но когда я наткнулся на это, то пошел покупать альбом с бэндкемпа еще до того, как доиграл последний трек :up: В равной степени вдохновляясь фолк-роком, психоделией и прогом, Messenger выпустили крайне сильную и сбалансированную пластинку, хайп по которой не проходит вот уже почти год. Туры-фестивали, рецензии от ведущих профильных изданий, признание коллег по цеху и простой публики - все это досталось британцам не просто так, ведь "Illusory Blues" дает неиллюзорно прикурить доброй половине "громких" релизов 2014го :applouse: Понравилось описание в чьем-то топе: "grizzly-bear-прог"

Шикарнейший, прям волшебный альбом!
Я уже отписывался тут в прошлый раз, но тогда тема пала жертвой масштабного новогоднего сбоя :smile:.

Действительно потяжелели по сравнению с дебютником. Но своего очарования и мелодичности не утратили - крутецкий альбом!
Вторая половина "Pareidolia" - просто ващще :in_love:, такого Пинк Флойда напустили сладкого!

Журнал Prog (Classic Rock'овский) выдвинул группу на две номинации в Progressive Music Awards 2016 - лучший альбом и лучшая группа :scream:.

С первого раза не смог в новый. Не то, чтоб он плохой.. Как будто магия исчезла, хз :) не, я выводов пока не делаю, конечно же.

всё нормально, синдром утёнка и на меня сработал весной...а щас новый заходит как боженька :pray: Меня глючит или первая половина альбома - сплошной Анекдотен? Кроме начала "Оракулов Войны", которые рипофф ретро-харда как жанра)

Пролетели оба коллектива :stupid: - лучшим альбомом Prog Awards 2016 стал... "Lighthouse" группы iamthemorning :hz:.
 
Our dear friends and fans; our family... We have a message from the Messenger camp...
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that this musical voyage has come to an end. We've collectively had many messages about our status and why we've had to cancel festival appearances and tours recently; and after much deliberation, we've decided that this decision is the right one.
We would like to give massive thanks to Svart Records, Inside Out Music, Northern Music Company, Prog, Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and all the music industry press and professionals who helped us along the way. Cheers you for your support. To the fanzines, radio stations, and bands we shared the stages with; thank you!
And most importantly; to all of YOU, that bought a record, CD, T-shirt, poster, that came to see us live, said "Hello" and made this trip one that we will cherish in years to come; we are eternally indebted to you for your support and your words of kindness.
Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine we would share stages with some of the biggest and best bands in the genre of Progressive Rock all over the world, win awards and release two albums to critical acclaim. This was a dream come true for all of us! Thank you!
Only time will tell if this is a permanent disbandment; but for now, there will be no more Messenger for the foreseeable future. We will notify you of any new musical endeavours in the future from this page.
