Revealed earlier today via short cryptic videos; producer Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has teamed up with long time collaborator Cedric Bixler-Zavala (both men of Mars Volta and At The Drive In fame) on a new project with former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch and the legendary Flea on bass. The new band, ANTEMASQUE, has been hunkered down in the studio and Volcom is proud to be able to present a longer look behind-the-scenes of the band recording their debut song, "4AM".

Недавно хотел переслушать сабж. Не пошло. Даже мой любимый De-Loused in the Comatorium.
Да и Фли с Фрусчанте какими-то унылыми стали(( Хз, не понимаю я их творческих поисков что-то.

а вообще я бы не спешил делать выводы. как ни крути, у всех вышеперечисленных тобой и мной ребят получается исключительно качественный материал, не всегда на широкий круг слушателей, но тем не менее. я последнюю вольту тоже не сразу полюбил :lol:
 
Какие-то отчаянные попытки оставаться на плаву, скрывая банальное бессилие написать песню которая останется в голове спустя пару минут.
Шли бы кучерявые в продюссеры, мутили бы свои лейблы/студии и расслаблялись.

нормальный рок, особенно если не ждать сабжа в этом новом, хм, проекте
 
мне с одной стороны как будто не хватает души в этом альбике, как будто писалось все не искренее, просто потому что от них ждут; с другой стороны реал качественное музло, без халтуры. можно слушать под настроение.

Keyboardist Isaiah "Ikey" Owens, who was a member of Jack White's band, the Mars Volta, and many other projects, has died. The news was announced by Third Man Records, who posted a note on their website:
It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans.

Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White's backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects.

Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled.

We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist.
Owens was currently on tour with White's band in Mexico.
Owens began his career playing with bands in Long Beach, California, including the Long Beach Dub Allstars and Crystal Antlers, along with his own band, Free Moral Agents. He played with the Mars Volta from 2001 to 2009. He joined White's band in 2012, appearing on both of White's solo albums.
Owens also worked with El-P, Mastodon, Saul Williams, and more.

On October 14, 2014, Owens was found dead due to a heart attack[4] in his hotel room in Puebla, Mexico, aged 38.[5] Two remaining concerts in Mexico in support of Jack White's album, Lazaretto, were cancelled. The band had played in Mexico City three days earlier, and were scheduled to perform in Guadalajara the day of his death.[4][6]

The complexity of their appeal was paralleled by their diverse fan base. There were the over-dressed hipsters, struggling to maintain their cool in the crushing, overzealous crowd, the washed-out punks whose inappropriate mosh pit attempts were thwarted by Emo's security, the 14-year-old ATDI fans trying to find a solid chorus to sing along to, the long-haired Santana fans who erupted with drunken cheers every time Zavala sang in Spanish, and the freaks on LSD who tried their best to go with the vibe, but were overwhelmed by the combined intensity of the music, crowd, heat and lights. After only a few songs, the crowd that had jammed near the front started to clear out for air. Soaked in sweat, they emerged looking as though they had witnessed a car wreck or the resurrection of Christ himself. But if the crowd started to catch on to the rhythm, Rodriguez would change it up, moving too fast for anyone in the crowd to really participate without looking awkward.

According to Rodriguez, they follow the basic themes of the songs on the album, but no two performances are the same. "It's structured improvisation," he said. The songs "will continue to evolve, because our goal is to be happy. Our goal is to feel empty so that we can feel full again - to give out our suffering, our joy, to empty it all out. ... Once you have done that, you are able to experience more suffering, more joy, and you are able to have more moments of feeling that you know what everything is about, and moments where you feel you don't know anything."

вообще просто прекраснейшие, такое впечатление, что все это время (если верть ластфму, то перед этим последний раз слушал марс вольту в 2008 :stupid:) ходил вокруг да около, чтоб потом под носом найти охуенчик. Пока дальше Tremulant EP и De-Loused in the Comatorium не дошел, наслаждаюсь. Джон Теодор просто :scream:

Кому попадались годные заменители в последнее время? Помимо всем известных (включая прошлогодних Cobalt Blue).

Вот резвые типы из 2015-го, заходят с решительно искромётного пост-хардкористого фланга. Примерно, как если б у Black Peaks сабж был главным влиянием. К сожалению, уже распались.

Прожектор, ну это давно известное. Ещё одна группа вокалиста Hail the Sun. Но получше самих Hail the Sun, хоть и в том же духе. То есть примерно как кросс сабжа с Circa Survive. "Stay Lost" сначала почему-то вообще не пошёл, но в прошлом году переслушивал и уже гораздо позитивней принял. Да и Circa Survive мне в последние годы всё больше и больше нравятся. Лучшее это как всегда дело вкуса, но наиболее похожее? Тут тоже всё неоднозначно. Для этого "статуса" всё-таки нужны более развёрнутые композиции, инструментарий пошире, больше психоделии, джэмов и тд. То есть, те же Cobalt Blue в этом плане выигрывают, не так ли? С другой стороны, они не такие энергичные... Как ни крути, до Вольтовского идеала не допрыгнешь))

1994-ый. Седрик на вокале, никто из остальных вроде не был замечен ни в AtDI, ни в Вольте. Звучит по обыкновению энергично и весьма эклектично-технично, по духу и общему стремлению сходу ближе именно к Вольте, особенно в сравнении с примитивными вещами ранних AtDI.
